Epic gives away two idle games free, but is Firestone worth the grind?
Epic Games Store has opened free claims for Firestone – Idle RPG and Sparklite: Automated Adventure, available from April 30 to May 7.

Both are idle games, but the strategic depth differs drastically. Firestone is pure number inflation—heroes auto-battle, loot auto-drops, and your decision-making shrinks to "which upgrade button to press." The developer calls it a "cozy haven," which translates to: watch numbers climb, don't expect to think.

Sparklite offers slightly more substance by blending automation with real-time strategy elements. You design production chains and manage resource flows instead of mindless clicking. The question is how deep the RTS layer actually runs. If it's just tower defense wrapped in automation mechanics, the strategic value drops accordingly.

The recommendation is straightforward: they're free, claim both. Firestone works for office downtime, Sparklite lets you test whether its systems have real complexity. Next week brings Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure and Goblins of Elderstone—the former a role-puzzler, the latter yet another goblin game. Epic seems determined to distribute idle titles until the end of time.
For strategy players, this batch reads more like snacks than main courses. The experience of agonizing over each turn for five minutes won't be found here. As tools for filling dead time, though, claiming costs nothing. Whether you actually play them is another matter.
