Resident Evil 9 Lead Hosts Gamescom Reveal, Global Debut Draws Mixed Reactions

On August 26, Future Games Show’s gamescom broadcast will be co-hosted by Nick Apostolides and Angela Sant'Albano. The two play Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline Resident Evil game. The official program promises world premieres, first gameplay reveals, and new trailers for more than 40 games spanning AAA and indie studios.

In a statement, Apostolides said he was "incredibly excited" to host alongside Sant'Albano and share the show's lineup with a global audience. Sant'Albano described the appearance as a brief break from dodging zombies to deliver premieres, exclusive gameplay, and fresh trailers for upcoming releases. The casting is clearly deliberate: Capcom is using its most recognizable upcoming leads to anchor a multi-game broadcast and keep viewers watching between reveals.

Confirmed appearances include The Tide of Annihilation, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, NO LAW, and The Ascent. That mix signals breadth rather than a single-genre showcase. After the main program, FGS Live From gamescom will continue coverage, and FGS Best Of gamescom on August 30 will round up the week's standout moments.

With more than 40 games on the schedule, the stream doubles as a snapshot of where different studios are with similar ideas. Viewers can compare systems and mechanics across genres in one sitting rather than chasing separate trailers.

The show airs at 10:00 AM PDT on August 26 — or 1:00 AM CST on August 27 for Chinese audiences — across Twitch, YouTube, Steam, X, Facebook, Bilibili, and Kuaishou. First-look gameplay will likely be the most valuable part; in-engine footage is a clearer read on Resident Evil Requiem’s progress and combat feel than any cinematic montage. If the 1 a.m. start is too late, the August 30 Best Of recap is the faster way to catch up.
