Honor's 4.8mm Tablet Runs Linux Despite Record-Thin Profile
Honor's Chengdu launch on April 23rd delivered the MagicPad3 Pro 12.3 at 4.8mm thick—thinner than iPad Pro 13 and now the world's slimmest tablet. At 450g with a 12.3-inch display, it's both larger and lighter than iPad Air 11, specs that rarely coexist.

The killer feature is dual-boot Linux and Android, an industry first for tablets. Developers get a portable workstation that switches between coding environments without friction, with file system isolation keeping both sides secure. The fifth-gen Snapdragon 8 handles the workload, while the 10,100mAh battery with 66W fast charging and 27W reverse charging kills range anxiety.

Display specs hit hard: 3K resolution at 165Hz on an OLED panel using the same Hybrid OLED tech as iPad Pro. The 3.9mm bezels frame a screen that peaks at 3,000 nits brightness with 5,280Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming for eye comfort. Dual Wi-Fi 7 acceleration pushes network coverage to one kilometer, eliminating dead zones at home.
MagicOS 10 powers the PC mode, with cross-brand ecosystem connectivity that doesn't lock you into one vendor. The government subsidy price starts at 3,499 yuan, and orders between April 23rd and May 17th include a 499-yuan smart keyboard.

Against iPad Pro's seven-to-eight-thousand yuan pricing, Honor's value proposition is aggressive. If you need a tablet that handles work and play without Apple's ecosystem lock-in, the dual-system setup delivers. The only concern is launch stock—these specs at this price point won't stay on shelves long.
