Permanent Price Cut for Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE Plus Is Now Live

---

Spike Chunsoft announced on July 29, 2026, that the digital edition of Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE Plus has received a permanent price cut. The new pricing is already live on Switch, PS5, and Steam, with the Steam China standard edition now set at 88 yuan and the deluxe edition at 128 yuan.

That matters because this is not just another catalog price tweak. Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE Plus is the enhanced version of Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE, made by the Danganronpa series production team led by Kazutaka Kodaka and published by Spike Chunsoft. Its appeal rests on a familiar promise: stylized characters, detective work, and a mystery built around steadily tightening pressure.

The notable part of the cut is not only that the game is cheaper, but where the new prices place it. At 88 yuan for the Steam China standard edition and 128 yuan for the deluxe edition, it moves out of "wait for a deep sale" territory and into a range where players can decide without much ceremony. On the PS5 Hong Kong store, the standard edition is now 198 Hong Kong dollars, while the deluxe edition is 238 Hong Kong dollars, which is closer to what many players expect to pay for a full narrative release.

Look at it another way: a Kazutaka Kodaka-led game is usually sold less on mechanical depth than on its writing rhythm. The pull is in the exaggerated characters, locked-room tension, and mystery beats that keep pushing the player forward. That kind of game can stumble when the first barrier is price, because a story that asks for patience cannot rely on reputation alone to bring players in.

That makes the permanent discount read less like a routine store update and more like a second chance to find an audience. Players who had been waiting on the sidelines now have a clearer reason to move Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE Plus back toward the top of a wishlist.

The buying advice is fairly straightforward. If what you want is Kodaka-style character conflict and a detective premise, the Steam China standard edition at 88 yuan is now the safer entry point. If you care more about additional content, the 128 yuan deluxe edition is the version to consider.

For Switch players, the Switch Japan store now lists the standard edition at 2480 yen and the deluxe edition at 3850 yen, which suits players who prefer reading and mystery-solving in handheld sessions. On PS5 Hong Kong, the standard edition at 198 Hong Kong dollars and deluxe edition at 238 Hong Kong dollars makes more sense for anyone who wants the presentation and atmosphere on a larger screen.

With the price lowered across Switch, PS5, and Steam, the question finally moves back where it belongs: whether this mystery labyrinth is worth seeing through, rather than whether the asking price was too high.
