"Black Myth: Zhong Kui" Takes East Asian 3A by Storm: Where Is the Strategic Depth?
Choosing a game is akin to analyzing a chess endgame; every step taken implies a consumption of time costs.
A blog post from March 26th claimed that East Asian game studios have recently been "killing it." Titles like "Phantom Blade Zero" and "Black Myth: Zhongkui" on the list are truly eye-opening. However, stunning visuals do not equate to exquisite strategy; this is something we need to be wary of.
In terms of system design, NetEase's "Infinity" focuses on a grand urban open world. However, it risks falling into the trap of mindless grinding, a consequence I wish to avoid. NetEase's "Return to Tang" has been hailed by foreign media as the "Uncharted of the High Tang Era"; the sense of exploration might be decent. Yet, linear workflows often limit decision-making space, reducing replay value.
Regarding strategic depth, the AAA landscape, once dominated by the US, Europe, and Japan, is shifting. This is both an opportunity and a challenge, concerning the direction of the gaming ecosystem in the coming years. If new titles merely pile on graphics while ignoring interaction logic, it is undoubtedly a waste of resources. The lineup of sequels, including "Stellar Blade 2" and the "Lies of P" sequel, is worth anticipating.
If action systems could integrate more game theory elements, that would be a very exquisite design. However, the issue is that most East Asian 3A titles still prioritize action spectacle over system complexity. The landscape shift in 2026 has become a trend; let's hope developers don't just focus on ray tracing.
Agonizing over every turn for five minutes—I enjoy this kind of pain too much. True 3A titles should not merely be visual spectacles but also battlefields of wits. Voices from the player community indicate that everyone craves depth rather than simple graphics upgrades. I look forward to seeing more excellent works that require thinking, like the "Civilization" series, in the future.
