Pokémon Pokopia announces five DLC regions including Burning Forest and Meteor Crater

Game Freak's internal files (Teraleak 2) reveal that Pokémon Pokopia will receive DLC throughout the next year, adding five new regions: Burning Forest, Flooded City, Volcanic Island, Decayed Tower, and Celadon Crater. The game launched in March 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2 and quickly gained traction, with these expansions designed to bridge the content gap until Pokémon: Wind/Wave arrives in late 2027.

The five new regions stand out for their distinct visual concepts. An eternally burning ash forest, a treasure-filled sunken city, a lifeless volcanic island—each carries strong environmental storytelling. Celadon Crater particularly catches my attention: a bottomless pit carved directly into an urban district. That post-disaster ruin aesthetic hits the right notes, reminiscent of exploring unknown depths in Hollow Knight but filtered through the Pokémon universe.

The existing map already covers Kanto classics like Fuchsia City, Vermilion City, and Pewter City. The DLC will likely continue this pattern, incorporating other iconic Kanto locations. Decayed Tower evokes Pokémon Tower, while Volcanic Island could be a Cinnabar Island variant. This approach smartly balances nostalgia with fresh exploration for veteran players.

Beyond new regions, the DLC should include story expansions, new Pokémon, and additional mechanics. In-game limited-time events continue rolling out—the current Sableye gem hunt runs until May 4. Game Freak's pacing works well here: small events maintain engagement while DLC provides major updates, sustaining momentum until the next mainline release.

Worth noting that this leak came from internal files rather than official announcements. Game Freak likely planned a later reveal, but now that expectations are set, players who already own Pokopia should stick around for the DLC—five regions means substantial content. Those on the fence might wait for post-DLC reviews before committing.
