Ylem's Cat Reveals Its First Trailer and a Girl-Cat Adventure
Chinese indie game Ylem's Cat has released its first trailer. The project presents itself as a knowledge-driven single-player action adventure centered on Molly and her cat companion.
The trailer does not lead with spectacle. Instead, it asks how a person and a cat can work together. That makes the partnership more than a visual hook: the game is trying to combine action, exploration, and knowledge-based puzzle solving around the behavior of its feline companion. The difficult part will be making combat feel responsive without turning the knowledge system into homework.

Molly sets out to find her missing mother and explores a dying, unfamiliar planet with the cat at her side. That setup gives the story a gentler emotional line and suits a structure built around learning about the world while moving through it. The first trailer feels restrained rather than loud, closer to a slow-burn adventure than a conventional action showcase.

The developers say they want to explore how a knowledge-driven game can work inside an action-adventure framework. That is an ambitious promise because it invites scrutiny from two audiences at once: action players will care about responsiveness, while exploration and puzzle fans will want the information they discover to meaningfully change how they play.

If the cat's habits and personality genuinely shape levels, combat, and storytelling, Ylem's Cat could stand apart from other animal-companion games. If the cat remains mostly cosmetic and the knowledge system feels forced, the concept will be stronger than the execution. For now, it is a Chinese indie project worth following rather than one that can already be judged from a single trailer.
