Absolute Demonic Power Confirmed for Switch 2! Great News for Physical Cartridge Fans
90 hours in, whenever I see an action game with random elements and hidden build possibilities, I instinctively take a closer look. With Absolum now confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, this is definitely welcome news for players who enjoy grinding through stages on a handheld and repeatedly testing different routes. More importantly, it’s not just getting a digital release—there will also be a physical edition later on, and the official word is that the full content will be included directly on the cartridge. For collectors, that’s as appealing as the artbook packed into a JRPG limited edition.

First, let’s sort out the key details. Publisher Dotemu and developers Guard Crush Games and Supamonks have confirmed that Absolum is coming to Switch 2, though the specific release date for this version has not yet been announced. It originally launched on PlayStation and PC (Steam) in October 2025, followed by an Xbox Series version in March 2026. Now that Switch 2 is joining the lineup as well, its platform rollout feels pretty complete, clearly showing an intent to bring the game to a broader action-game audience.

In terms of genre, Absolum is not a traditional slow-burn, turn-based Japanese-style game. It’s a side-scrolling beat ’em up action game that blends in roguelite elements. Players take on the “Sun King” Azra, with combat centered around magic, counters, and each character’s unique abilities, and there are four playable characters in total. Add in co-op gameplay and procedurally generated content, and its replayability loop becomes very clear—it feels like a fusion of the satisfying impact of classic beat ’em ups with the build-chasing experience that has become so popular in recent years.

On top of that, the physical edition excites me even more than the platform announcement itself. Silver Lining Interactive is handling the physical release, which is scheduled for Q3 2026, and the key point is that the complete content will be included on the cartridge, so players won’t have to worry about getting a “half-finished physical edition.” These days, what many players care most about with physical releases is no longer how nice the box looks, but whether the content is actually complete—and this time, the official statement has made that crystal clear, which the community will very likely respond well to.

That said, the Switch 2 version still doesn’t have a specific release date, and that’s something worth keeping in mind. If you’re the kind of player who wants to jump in at launch and already has the option of playing on PC or consoles, it makes more sense for now to keep an eye on the Switch 2 release window and performance details. But if you naturally prefer the rhythm of handheld gaming and are particularly attached to physical collecting, then waiting for the cartridge version may actually be the more satisfying all-in-one option. After all, for a game built around co-op, repeated runs, and experimenting with multiple characters, being able to fire up another session on a portable system feels naturally a bit like carrying the fun of an arcade in your backpack.
