According to Gamersky, Beast of Reincarnation, Game Freak's new action RPG built in Unreal Engine 5, launched on August 4, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with day-one access through Xbox Game Pass. The PC version has already drawn heavy criticism on Steam and other platforms, mainly for outdated graphics technology, poor optimization, and graphics settings that reset after every restart.
After roughly 15 hours with the PC version, the Beast Soul grind is not the problem. The settings menu, however, has already made me stop playing three times. Game Freak's PC launch feels rushed, and the clearest example is its default upscaling option: the outdated FSR 1. The game supports DLSS 3.7 and FSR 3.0, but every time the game is restarted, the graphics settings are forced back to FSR 1. That means any switch to DLSS 3.7 or FSR 3.0 is lost on the next boot. It is not just inconvenient; it makes every launch feel like extra maintenance.

The PC version also has no official ultrawide monitor support. Players on 21:9 displays are left with black bars or stretched images, which makes the wolf-riding scenes feel constrained instead of wide and cinematic. The options menu looks current at a glance, but the details undercut it. DLSS 3.7 and FSR 3.0 are present, but frame generation is missing, and the game has not kept up with the latest versions of supersampling technology. For an Unreal Engine 5 action RPG, the result is a PC version that feels more demanding and less polished than it should.
Some players have described the PC release as "extremely cheap" and like a "small workshop" production. Harsh as that sounds, the complaint is understandable when the settings menu feels this unfinished. Part of Beast of Reincarnation's development was outsourced to third parties, and that appears to have directly affected the overall optimization quality.

The community is already trying to fix what the official release shipped without. Technical specialists and modders have begun manually adding newer image-reconstruction features through unofficial mods, giving PC players at least one route toward a cleaner-looking, more stable PC version. But Game Freak and the development team have not issued any official statement about future patches. Whether the console versions will eventually suffer from the same problems remains unclear.
For now, the advice is simple: PC players should not rush to buy Beast of Reincarnation at full price. Anyone planning to fully collect Beast Souls or grind for hidden Beast Souls should wait for an official patch, or at least watch how mod compatibility develops. Feedback on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions is more stable so far, and because the game is already available through Xbox Game Pass, console may be the lower-risk way to play it. In an action RPG, performance and animation flow matter more than a long list of graphics toggles. No one should have to recheck the upscaler every time they boot an action RPG.
