Hidetaka Miyazaki Won't Allow It! Bloodborne Remake Almost Happened, But FromSoftware Flatly Refused and Bluepoint Games Headed for Closure
Hearing this news is genuinely bittersweet.
According to renowned journalist Jason Schreier, in early 2025, Bluepoint Games pitched Sony on a Bloodborne remake. They had just come off a failed live-service God of War spin-off (since cancelled) and were desperately looking for a new direction.

Sony thought it "made sense from a data standpoint" and was reportedly interested. But FromSoftware shot it down flat — the original developer refused to greenlight the collaboration, and the project died right there.
This actually lines up with what former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida said last year: Hidetaka Miyazaki doesn't want anyone else touching Bloodborne, and may still hope to revisit it himself someday — he just can't fit it into the schedule right now.

With Bloodborne off the table, Bluepoint didn't give up. They went on to pitch two more ideas: an upgraded version of the Shadow of the Colossus remake, and a Ghost of Tsushima spin-off. Sony passed on both.
After three rejections in a row, the studio renowned for its remaster work was officially shut down by Sony this month.
Honestly, Bluepoint had a real gift for remakes. The quality of that Shadow of the Colossus remaster still holds up beautifully. Losing them like this just stings.
