Star Fox Game Misses April Window as Nintendo Shifts Plans
Leaker Nate the Hate claimed on social media that Nintendo is developing a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and a new Star Fox game, predicting the latter would be announced in April. April came and went with no announcement.

The leaker's response is where this gets interesting. Nate the Hate admitted the timing was off but doubled down on the game's existence, citing "other media outlets and insiders" who've mentioned similar projects. It's a classic "I wasn't wrong, Nintendo just changed plans" defense. Journalist Reece Reilly offered a more plausible explanation: Nintendo likely adjusted its reveal schedule after the leak.
Nintendo treats secrecy like a core asset. When your entire marketing strategy revolves around surprise reveals, having your full-year lineup leaked with specific dates forces your hand. Reilly's take is straightforward: "Nintendo thrives on player surprise. Once the annual lineup gets exposed, they're likely to rewrite the script." That tracks—Nintendo Direct presentations lose their punch when viewers already know what's coming.

Players are caught in the middle. Early intel on upcoming games has value, but leak culture undermines the reveal experience. Star Fox has been dormant since 2016's Star Fox Zero on Wii U. A new entry would be welcome news regardless of timing, but the leaker's overconfidence backfired. No April announcement means credibility takes a hit.
The Ocarina of Time remake rumor holds more water. An N64 classic rebuilt with modern tech has clear market demand and manageable technical scope. But Nintendo's current strategy prioritizes new IP and sequels over remakes. If this project exists, it's probably queued for after Switch 2 establishes its install base—a nostalgia play for later in the cycle. The lesson here: don't treat predictions as facts, especially with a company that pivots on a dime.
