Pokémon GO's Super Squad Launches, New Paldea Pokémon Debut
According to the official Pokémon GO announcement, the limited-time event Super Squad runs from 10:00 a.m. local time on September 8 to 8:00 p.m. on September 14. It marks the debut of Tandemaus and Maushold from Paldea, and Shiny Talonflame is also making its first appearance.
Structurally, this is less a single content drop than a string of linked goals. Tandemaus gives players a new catch target, the phased boosts to Shiny Pidgey and Shiny Carvanha keep the wild spawn pool moving, and the event then steers players toward the raid side around Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom. It is tidy, if not especially ambitious.

Tandemaus can be obtained through limited-time GO Pass rewards, event-themed Field Research, or by hatching eggs from September 11 to September 14. Evolving it into Maushold costs 50 Candy. That is more than a simple cost gate: it ties the collection grind to a short event window and forces players to decide where to spend their time. For players with less time, Field Research and eggs are the least demanding options. If you are filling out the Pokédex and chasing shinies, the Pass becomes more useful.

The monetization angle is hard to miss. Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom get the top-tier Mega Boost, along with boosted charged moves, while the official line says more legacy Mega Evolution Pokémon will get the same treatment in the future. Mega Tyranitar and Mega Gengar are already on the candidate list. Add GO Fest: Super Finale on September 5 and 6, where Armored Mewtwo returns after six years, and September starts to look less like a one-off event than a retention push.
