PS5 Low-Price Listing Scam Spreads as Buyers Paying Shipping Fees Get Blocked

Users on overseas forums have recently exposed a wave of second-hand trading scams targeting PS5 consoles, manga, and vinyl records. The same scheme now appears on both resale platforms and social media: scammers push buyers to prepay shipping, then block them immediately.

The trick is old, but it still works on new players. Scammers first claim they are “in a difficult situation” to lower your guard, then post prices far below market value to create urgency. Once you send a private message, they quickly steer the conversation toward a shipping transfer. The moment payment arrives, the account disappears—no exceptions reported.

These posts share obvious patterns. First, the item is always high-demand stock, with fast-moving products like the PS5 appearing most often. Second, the price is so low it breaks normal transaction logic. Third, the seller pushes private chat and immediate payment, while avoiding platform escrow.

There are only three buying rules, and they are enough. Use platform escrow only, and reject any request to “prepay shipping.” Keep all communication and payment on-platform, and refuse redirects to social apps. Accept only traceable proof, including shipping details, account history, and rating records.

The community-level trend is also clear. Scammers have spread from second-hand marketplaces to social platforms, showing they are actively seeking lower-risk-control environments. Platform enforcement will usually lag behind; player self-protection has to move faster. If you see the combo of “ultra-low price + shipping prepayment,” leave the conversation immediately—your time is worth more than a lucky find.
