OCTOPATH TRAVELER IIFetching price~ $59.99Did Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Drive SE's Revenue and Profit Gains?
Square Enix's latest financial report points to a clear rebound in its game business, led by titles including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The company reported net sales of ¥17.7 billion for the relevant fiscal period, while operating profit reached ¥6.1 billion. The same report says growth came from both newly released games and continued sales of existing titles, with some titles performing better than expected.
The headline number is only part of the story. The better sign is where the recovery came from. Net sales increased from ¥8.9 billion to ¥17.7 billion, a rise of about ¥8.8 billion. Operating profit moved from ¥1.0 billion to ¥6.1 billion, up by about ¥5.1 billion. That does not look like a business being carried by one launch alone.

That distinction matters because the rebound was not only about having fresh releases to sell. The company has also outlined its key lineup for the fiscal year ending in March 2027, or 2027/3, while continuing to emphasize quality across mid-sized and large releases and the long-term management of classic IP. Games such as Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II still fit that long-tail sales model, while new projects will be judged even more sharply on the quality of the finished game.
For players, this report is not a reason to buy into short-term hype. The more useful question is Square Enix's release cadence from here, and whether projects such as Final Fantasy: Resonance can sustain the current momentum. The signal from this report is fairly clear: Square Enix is not just betting on a single spike. It is trying to build a steadier, longer-term slate.
