Steam Libraries Hit 20,000 Games as 121 Players Complete the Museum Collection
121 Steam Users Own Over 20,000 Games Each—Top Collector Hits 43,116 Titles
At least 121 Steam users have amassed libraries of 20,000 games or more, according to SteamDB data. The top collector, Sonix, owns 43,116 titles—a collection worth roughly $750,000 at retail price, or about 2.55 million yuan. Two other users have also crossed the 40,000-game threshold.

The scale is hard to grasp. Playing 10 games a day would take 12 years just to launch each title once. For me, though, the real issue is that most Steam games don't support multiplayer. I buy games to play with friends—solo experiences, no matter how well-made, just don't pull me in.
Beyond the 121 users with 20,000+ games, another 999 players own libraries exceeding 10,000 titles. At this point, it feels less like a hobby and more like archival work.
Maybe these collectors genuinely love games as artifacts. My roommate hoards co-op indies the same way—plays most once, but enjoys the act of owning them. I get that. But I'd rather have 100 multiplayer games than 40,000 solo ones. The best part of gaming is still those few hours laughing with friends in voice chat.
