New Chinese Demo for Wandering World Lets You Jump Timelines to Save Civilization
Frontier World's Chinese Demo Is Now Live on Steam, Free to Try
On September 2, per a report from Gamersky, a Chinese-language demo for Frontier World, a 2D real-time strategy game, went live on Steam. It's free, straight from the store page. The premise: you lead a tribe from nothing on a strange, flat planet — gathering resources, expanding territory, researching tech, training armies. And when a run goes bad, the game's time-loop hook lets you go back and change the past.
New 2D RTS releases have been scarce in recent years, and the shared challenge is standing out within a tight scope. Frontier World's foundation is fairly standard: the familiar gather-expand-research-train loop, with more than 20 resource types to manage and a decent stack of buildings and tech to unlock. Weapons run from bows and spears up to guns and warplanes — a progression with visible Age of Empires DNA. Well-trodden, but proven.

On paper, the differentiator is the time-loop mechanic. Per the official description, players "can travel between different timelines and use 'time skills' to change the past," working through one do-over after another to find a way to save civilization. In design terms, that's a roguelike restart structure grafted into the RTS management loop: failure no longer means scrapping the run — it means looping back to revise earlier decisions. The idea isn't new, but it's genuinely rare in strategy, and it's the main thing worth testing in this demo.

You're not alone out there, either. Officially, you can "form alliances or trade" with neighboring factions, or "train armies and wage war" for more land and resources. A system like this lives or dies on whether the AI behaves convincingly. A demo may not be big enough to answer that — the full release will be.

The math is simple: the demo is free, so if you have any interest in strategy games, there's no reason not to grab it. While you play, keep an eye on how much real depth the time skills add, and on how complete the Chinese localization turns out to be. Pricing and a release date for the full version haven't been announced, so follow the store page (App ID 3309160) and decide once the details are in.
