Gran Turismo 7 adds Xiaomi SU7 Ultra as first Chinese car in franchise history
I've logged over a thousand hours in the Gran Turismo series. When Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra became the first Chinese car ever featured in GT7, the feeling hit like the first time a Final Fantasy game added Chinese voice acting—finally, we're here.

The partnership started at the Shanghai F1 race, where series creator Kazunori Yamauchi met the Xiaomi team and discovered their EV tech depth. By June 2025, the SU7 Ultra's inclusion was official; by April 2026 at the Beijing Auto Show, the Vision Gran Turismo concept made its domestic debut. Yamauchi's take was blunt: "The design is very clean, very pure, and at the same time very intelligent, very smart."

For completionists, this matters. GT has always cataloged global automotive icons, but Chinese cars were a blank spot. This isn't just Xiaomi's win—it's a milestone for China's auto industry in gaming culture. Yamauchi confirmed more Chinese cars are coming to the series, which is excellent news for those of us grinding out garage collections.

The Vision Gran Turismo project itself invites manufacturers to design concept cars for the game. Xiaomi's participation signals that Yamauchi views their design philosophy as internationally competitive. As a longtime JRPG player, seeing a Japanese creator validate a Chinese brand this way delivers the same satisfaction as clearing a hidden boss.
Now I'm waiting for the update to drop. First order of business: take the SU7 Ultra across every track and sweep the related trophies. As the first Chinese car in the series, the collectible value is off the charts.
