“Gather three or four friends in one living room and play this timed-kitchen chaos to the full together”

評測總結

So let me say the praise and the problems in the same breath. This is not the best single-player game of any year, and it never tried to be. It is, however, one of the best party tools I have put in front of a group of friends, and the gap between those two statements is the entire review. Judge it as a solo experience and you will undersell it badly. Judge it as a machine for generating shared chaos in a living room, and it is close to peerless.

A game that lives or dies by your player count

The clearest way to describe the experience is by counting heads. Play it alone and it is a seven, a competent but slightly hollow exercise in self-coordination where you control two chefs at once and feel the absence of a real partner. Play it with three people and it is a nine, a tight, hilarious, pulse-raising scramble where the communication finally has somewhere to go. Play it with four and it becomes a friendship-ending machine in the most affectionate sense, the kind of shared chaos that has people half-shouting and immediately hitting restart for one more go.

That social property is something no amount of visual polish or narrative depth could ever substitute for. The mid-game repetition in layouts is real, the story is forgettable, and none of it matters much, because the core was never exploration. The core is cooperation, and as long as the person beside you is still there, the kitchen stays fresh forever. It took me sixty-two hours to clear, and when I set the controller down I did not feel the relief of finishing a chore. I felt like I was seeing off a friend who had stayed with me for two months, reluctant to let go but knowing it was time to.

Where it sits against its peers

Stacked against its cooperative neighbors, the positioning is sharp. The narrative-forward co-op crown holds you for one memorable run and then releases you, a beautiful experience you finish once and rarely revisit. This game makes the opposite promise. It keeps pulling a table back to the same restartable kitchen night after night, week after week, because the fun is not locked inside a story that can only be told once. That repeatable, social durability is what the critical consensus rewarded, and it is why a clutch of outlets landed it firmly in the upper tier rather than treating it as a passing novelty.

It also outlasts the lighter party-game competition for the opposite reason. Where a bag of minigames burns bright and fizzles fast, this game has a genuine skill ceiling, a sense that a coordinated table is meaningfully better than a chaotic one. That depth is what turns a one-night novelty into a standing invitation, the game you reach for again because there is always another star to chase together.

The final number

I will land it at an eight overall, lifted by a cooperative loop that few games match and held just short of greatness by a story it deliberately under-built. It is not perfect, and it does not pretend to be. The repetition is real and the solo mode is thin, and a fair scorecard has to account for both rather than pretend the co-op magic erases them.

But like fried chicken from a roadside stall, you know exactly what it is, you know it will not change your life, and you reach for it anyway because nothing else hits quite the same. As a party tool it is a benchmark, the game I default to when the right number of people are in the room, and that reliability is worth more than a single point on a scorecard could ever capture. If you have three or four friends and a couch, treat the eight as a floor rather than a ceiling, because the number on the page can only measure the game, not the laughter it pulls out of the people playing it. That, more than any mechanic, is the thing I keep coming back for.
