“A floating home you must keep rebuilding at sea, peaking on its build loop and co-op camaraderie”

評測總結

A ship a small team nursed for four years

A wide view of the raft underway at sea

Look back over Raft's run and it reads like an underdog story. A small Swedish team starts with a free prototype posted online in 2016, lets word of mouth do the work, hits Steam early access in 2018 and briefly climbs to the third best-selling game on the platform, then spends four full years polishing before the 2022 full release spends two straight weeks topping the Steam top-sellers. This is not a blockbuster bought with a marketing war chest; it is a sincere project that players voted up one purchase at a time. That trajectory matters, because it explains the shape of the finished game: every system in here was stress-tested by an audience that was already playing it for years, and the rough edges that survived are the ones a small studio simply could not afford to sand down, not ones nobody noticed. The polish is real where it counts and absent where the budget ran out, and knowing the history makes that trade easy to forgive.

Its place on the survival map

Drop Raft onto the genre's map and the spot it occupies is genuinely odd. It has none of Subnautica's horror voltage, none of Valheim's hardcore combat depth, none of Don't Starve's wickedly tuned resource math. What it has is the one thing none of them do: it is the only survival game that makes ocean drifting the core motif. Your home is not a base nailed to dry land but a ship that moves, that erodes under waves and shark teeth, that demands you keep it running while you sail. No second game has copied that motif anywhere near this completely.

Five million copies, a 93 percent Steam rating, the "Better with Friends" reputation and a "Late Bloom" award together pin it to the marker post of indie ocean survival. It proves a single point: take a concept stripped to its bones, build it solid and build it with love, and the force of it rivals any pile of stacked systems. That is worth sitting with, because the genre's instinct is usually the opposite — to bolt on more biomes, more crafting tiers, more bosses until the pitch becomes a feature list. Raft went the other direction and committed, hard, to one idea executed completely, and the market rewarded the focus. It is a useful reminder that depth in a survival game can come from a single strong premise carried all the way through, not just from the sheer count of things to do.

Who should board, and who should sail past

A floating town built up with friends

So who is Raft for? First in line are players who want to build something from scratch with friends and also want the trip to have a clear destination. If you and a few mates are hunting for a co-op game you can sink long evenings into — easy to pick up, light on its feet, with an actual sense of purpose — Raft is practically tailored to you. Splitting the scavenging, building together, drifting toward the truth as a crew delivers real camaraderie and a real sense of having made something. Anyone who loves planning, who enjoys nursing a single plank into a floating town, will be very content here.

Three groups should steer clear. The first cannot stand a zero-tutorial opening and hates learning by failure — Raft teaches you almost nothing up front, and the bounce-off start of shark attacks and a draining thirst bar will simply rankle. The second showed up for snappy combat — the fighting here is restrained to the point of being a survival footnote, and you will not be carving a path through enemies. The third wants a meaty single-player story with flesh-and-blood characters — Raft hides its tale in scraps with barely any voice work, and it will not feed an appetite for narrative heft. As for editions, there is no tangle to untangle: the standard version is the complete version, the 2022 Final Chapter folded in all the story content for free, and console players get the same sea on PS5 and Xbox Series. Buy the whole thing; there is nothing to agonise over.

Why the rival lost, and whether anyone can replace it

The raft and a distant island under a setting sun

We named Subnautica as Raft's most direct rival, and Raft wins one decisive round. Subnautica is unquestionably the more polished, more atmospherically charged work; it terrifies players into competence and its immersion is top-tier. But it is, at heart, a lonely solo descent — the stronger the atmosphere, the higher the wall, and that suffocating tension shuts some players out at the door.

Raft runs the other way, and that is exactly where it wins: it makes survival a thing you can do with friends, lightly. Low barrier, high togetherness, a real ending, a friend droppable into your sea at any moment — it trades Subnautica's lonely polish for warmth and company. Neither is strictly better; they answer different needs. Do you want a voyage you can breathe on, or a dive that leaves you cold-sweating alone?

As for replacement — not soon. Nobody else has built "the home that drifts" to anything like this finish. The flaws are real: no hand-holding, rough tech, a thin endgame. But the core charm — standing with friends on a ship you built by hand, drifting across a lonely, soothing sea, chasing answers the whole way — is not something a competitor copies in a hurry. All told: 7.8, an indie standout worth boarding at least once if survival is your water.
