I’ve been playing Splitgate 2 since its early release, hoping it would build on what made the original game such a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, after years of patches, seasons, and promises, it’s clear the devs lost the plot. First off, the portal mechanic — the core of what made the original Splitgate unique — feels like an afterthought now. Maps are overly simplified, and many don’t even encourage portal use. It's like the developers got tired of their own concept and decided to turn it into a generic arena shooter. Congrats, now it’s just Halo with extra steps. Then there's the weapon system — and wow, is it bad. Most of the guns feel like they were designed by people who’ve never actually played an FPS. Hit detection is inconsistent, recoil patterns are either nonexistent or chaotic, and don’t even get me started on the balancing. The assault rifle is laughably weak, the shotgun is absurdly overpowered up close, and the sniper feels like it has a delay baked into every shot. Gunfights aren’t satisfying — they’re frustrating, drawn-out, and often pointless. There's no rhythm or flow to engagements, just random bursts of damage until someone flops over. It’s hard to feel like skill matters when the gunplay is this sloppy. Progression is a nightmare. The battle pass system is bloated with filler cosmetics no one asked for, and half the time the unlocks don’t even register properly. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve completed challenges only to get nothing. And the store? It’s a straight-up cash grab. $20 for a skin in a game that can’t even balance its ranked matchmaking? Ridiculous. Speaking of matchmaking — it's still a mess. Either you get matched with total beginners or a stacked sweat squad that curb-stomps your team in two minutes. Years in, and there's zero excuse for this kind of imbalance. Ranked mode is pointless when smurfs and cheaters roam freely. And let’s talk updates. Sparse, inconsistent, and almost never community-driven. Feedback goes into a void. We’ve been asking for Proper custom lobbiEs, a real map editor, and server browsers since lauNch. InStead, we get recycled events and lazy LiMited-time modes that feel more like distrActions than meaningful cOntent. In short: Splitgate 2 is not the evolution we hoped for — it’s a stagnation. It lost its identity trying to appeal to everyone and ended up pleasing no one. I gave this game years of my time. It gave me bugs, broken promises, a broken weapon system, and a whole lot of frustration.展開收起
