Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 Remakes Still Unconfirmed Pending Official Word

With Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake now officially announced, attention has turned to whether Capcom will also remake Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. According to Insider Gaming, citing comments from Dusk Golem (AestheticGamer) on ResetEra, the answer right now appears to be no: Capcom has not committed to remaking either game, and reportedly still does not know how it would handle them.

Per Dusk Golem, the company "currently doesn't even know how to handle" remakes of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. This does not sound like Capcom is quietly making both games and just staying silent for now. It's a blunt assessment, but it fits the situation those two games present. Both are big games, both push the series in very different tonal and design directions, and either remake would need more than a visual touch-up.

Another part of the rumor is worth noting. According to Dusk Golem, these possible remakes are not part of some long-term effort to rebuild the entire series around Resident Evil 9: Requiem. Even if Capcom eventually decides to remake Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6, that decision would not be about reshaping the whole franchise to lead into one game. The broader claim is that Capcom does not maintain a long-term remake roadmap for Resident Evil. Instead, it usually maps out the next five years in broad terms, then reevaluates the series every few years.

That pacing makes sense. At this point, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Resident Evil 0, and another remake of the original Resident Evil all look like simpler priorities than Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Those earlier entries have a clearer case for a modern remake, while the later two raise messier design questions. Resident Evil 6 in particular is massive in both scope and content, but that scale also makes it harder to reshape cleanly. If Capcom does not yet have a solid answer, holding off for now looks more cautious than indecisive.

Even so, community demand is unlikely to disappear. Dusk Golem added that, in his personal view, Resident Evil 5 will probably still get remade in the future. His reasoning is that once Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Resident Evil 0, and another remake tied to the first Resident Evil are out, demand for Resident Evil 5 will only keep growing. It is a reasonable read of the situation, but it remains his own judgment, not an official signal from Capcom.

That is the important caveat. Everything here comes from insider claims and public comments, not from formal confirmation by Capcom. For long-time fans, this looks less like a final verdict and more like the current state of play. Anyone waiting for Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 remakes will need to keep waiting, and anyone trying to understand where the series goes next should watch Capcom's next few years of reassessment rather than assume Capcom has the entire remake lineup planned out already.
