Confirmed during a Nintendo presentation, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 23, 2026. At the time of publication, pre-orders are already live on the Nintendo store page at HK$223, and the official listing says this version includes all add-on content from the original release while promising a stable 60fps throughout in both TV mode and handheld mode.
The buying decision is pretty straightforward: are you here for the complete package, or for portable play? In an action game, 60fps is not decoration. It affects timing, judgment, and basic feel. When the official pitch leads with "stable 60fps throughout," that tells you exactly where this port will be judged: whether the fundamentals hold up.

Devil May Cry 5 was never the kind of game that pads out its runtime with stat grinding. Its real strength is how combo routing, weapon switching, attack rhythm, and risk-reward decisions all feed into each other. I usually spend more time with dense strategy games like Civilization and Total War, but the appeal isn't that different: both ask you to make the most of limited options. One does it on a large map, the other in the middle of a fight. If the Switch 2 version can really hold that performance in handheld mode, then it's selling more than basic playability; it's selling the freedom to stay sharp anywhere.

On the content side, the official description already makes clear that this release includes all of the original version's add-on content. At minimum, that means this does not look like a stripped-down compromise. For players who never touched Devil May Cry 5, this package looks like a solid way in, without the usual need to buy in first and then go back to fill in the gaps. At HK$223, the value on paper is not unreasonable, especially for players who genuinely expect to use handheld mode often.
The caveat is that this is still just an announcement. What can currently be confirmed is the launch date, price, included add-on content, and the 60fps promise. What we still do not have are more detailed numbers on visual settings, resolution, or how stable the game remains during long handheld sessions. Action games expose the gap between a good-looking spec sheet and how a port actually feels in your hands faster than most genres do, so the verdict will ultimately depend on post-launch testing rather than a few presentation screenshots.

Devil May Cry 5 is not the genre I live in most often, but it does have one quality I value a lot: it rewards players for learning the system instead of forcing them into repetitive labor. The best action games and the best strategy games both reward better decisions, not empty hours. From that angle, if Switch 2 keeps getting mature, well-proven releases like this and can maintain a solid performance floor, the platform's appeal will extend beyond family-friendly software and start making a more credible case to core players as well.

The buying advice is straightforward. If you have never played Devil May Cry 5 and you specifically want a portable character-action experience, this version belongs on your watchlist. If you have already cleared it multiple times on other platforms, whether to pre-order comes down to how much you value portability and how often you use Nintendo hardware. In the end, the question is not whether this is a famous game. It is whether your own play habits can turn 60fps and a complete content package into real value.
