I finally turned on my device on Saturday afternoon, and before I even got to try the new release, I saw on my phone that the official account for Hawk Road had come out with another explanation. For someone like me, who usually only has time to catch up on news during subway rides, announcements like this actually matter a lot, because they directly affect one thing: whether this game will be worth spending my time waiting for in the future. What can be confirmed now is that the new domestic title Hawk Road: Rise of Doomsday has recently sparked heated discussion in player communities because of its name, and today Longying Studio issued another statement specifically to address everyone’s misunderstandings.

In this announcement, the most useful information was actually not the “clarification,” but the search issue. The official statement said that some players could not find Hawk Road on Steam and need to first check violent, adult, and similar content in the client’s store preferences before the game will appear. This detail is a bit like a food delivery platform hiding a restaurant on a secondary page—you think the shop is closed, when in fact you just never turned off the filter. For people following this game, this is a very direct and practical reminder.

That said, the official focus this time was still on pulling back the bias caused by the game’s name. Their point was very clear: many players had already labeled the game before even looking at its gameplay and setting, simply because of the title. According to the official description, Hawk Road follows Earth survivor Yichun and his friend Aladdin, who use an offense-leaning “hawk-style” combat approach to fight monsters while farming basic and advanced components, engaging in survival crafting, upgrading weapons, and completing missions and achievements, before ultimately taking on aliens. Honestly, from that description, it sounds more like a sci-fi monster-fighting game with survival crafting and loot-based progression, not the kind of thing people might assume just from the name alone.

From an office worker’s perspective, the biggest point of interest right now is whether the gameplay loop is time-efficient enough. Fight monsters to get components, then build tools, upgrade weapons, and push missions forward—if the pacing feels smooth and you can sit down for two or three hours on the weekend and see obvious progress, then that is a great deal, like ordering a cheap but filling workday meal. But if gathering is too fragmented and the crafting chain is too long, then it easily turns into “I just got warmed up and it’s already time for bed,” which is not very friendly for players with limited time. At this stage, the developers have only laid out the framework, but they still have not shown enough actual gameplay details, so for now I’ll stay on the fence.

There’s another piece of information worth noting: the release date for Hawk Road: Rise of Doomsday has been moved up to June 24, 2026. An earlier release is of course a positive sign, and at the very least suggests the project is progressing at a decent pace, but earlier does not necessarily mean stable. For ordinary players, what matters most right now is not the controversy over the name, but whether the developers can continue to show more complete demonstrations of combat, crafting, and missions. After all, choosing a game is like planning a weekend—the core principle is the same: don’t let me spend my time only to end up with nothing but a head full of question marks.

If you’re a player who likes sci-fi, survival crafting, and material-farming progression, Hawk Road is worth putting on your wishlist for now, and you might as well check your Steam preference settings so you do not end up unable to find the page at all. But if you’re like me, with a tighter time budget than even your wallet, then it’s better to wait and see—especially until actual gameplay makes the combat feel and progression pace clearer. At the end of the day, whether a game can hook you is only affected by its name at first glance; whether it is worth waiting for still depends on whether it can make your limited weekends feel like time well spent.
