Huawei hits 23.2% to claim top spot as Apple drops to second

Huawei grabbed 23.2% market share in week 16 of 2026, shoving Apple and OPPO down to a tied 15.8%. This isn't a one-phone miracle—it's a full-spectrum push across multiple price tiers.

The top-10 chart lays it out. iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 still own the top two spots—Apple's flagship game remains strong. But Huawei's Enjoy 90 Pro Max sits at third, beating out the iPhone 17 Pro. Further down, the Mate 80, Enjoy 80 Plus, and nova 15 all crack the top ten. Apple fields two contenders; Huawei brings four or five.

The playbook is old-school Nokia: blanket coverage from budget to premium, no reliance on a single hero device. Huawei's revived that strategy with sharper execution. The Enjoy line takes the mass market, Mate holds the high end, nova captures younger buyers. Each segment delivers, and the sum hits 23.2%.

Apple's two flagships holding the top two slots show that premium pricing power hasn't evaporated. Huawei moves volume, but profit margins are a different question. In March, Huawei sat at 18%—jumping 5 points in one month is aggressive. With global supply chain storage component prices climbing hard, either Huawei stockpiled inventory early or they're betting they can absorb the cost later.

For context, March had Huawei at 18% leading the pack, Apple and OPPO tied at 16.5%, Xiaomi at 16.0%, vivo at 15.0%, and Honor at 13.1%. By week 16, vivo dropped to 15%, Xiaomi to 14.2%, and Honor to 10.5%. Huawei's gain came at everyone's expense.

Bottom line: Huawei wins on breadth. Apple leans on two flagships; Huawei spreads across five or six lines. Short-term advantage goes to Huawei, but long-term depends on who cracks under cost pressure first. Major phone makers have already adjusted pricing across different tiers due to component inflation. I don't buy that 23.2% holding steady—supply chain prices are still climbing.
