24H2 Fails! Win11 Updates Paused, High Refresh Rate Gone

Microsoft's latest update push feels like a sudden mechanical failure on the race track, forcing a pit stop for repairs. The Windows 11 non-security update KB5079391, released last week, has been urgently paused due to critical installation errors. It's like a racer hitting an engine alarm during the sprint lap, forced to reluctantly abandon their run. Microsoft has withdrawn the update for all users to prevent more players from falling into predicaments.

Affected versions include Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, with error code 0x80073712 becoming the major obstacle. Currently, checking for updates only shows KB5085516, and the planned new features are temporarily unavailable. For esports players chasing extreme frame rates, this is undoubtedly unwelcome news. The original update included features such as Narrator improvements and high refresh rate support, which now must wait for a fix. High refresh rate support is crucial for shooter game players; latency means compromised competitiveness.

Microsoft expects to complete the fix before Patch Tuesday in April 2026; this period feels like a long wait in the pit lane. For ordinary players, stability is far more important than aggressive new features. Do not attempt to force-install old patches, so as to avoid causing system file corruption. Waiting for the official release is the wise move, after all, system stability is the cornerstone of the gaming experience. Voices from the player community indicate that everyone prefers a stable system over new features full of bugs.

This incident reminds us once again that major system updates often come with unpredictable risks. Just as car tuning requires repeated testing, software deployments require more rigorous validation. Hopefully, Microsoft can resolve this installation error as soon as possible and get players' computers back on track. In this highly competitive industry, stability is the key lap time to winning user trust.
