Unknown Worlds has announced that Subnautica 2: Alien Waters will enter Early Access on May 14 at 23:00 Beijing time, launching on PC and Xbox Series platforms with a China region price of 108 yuan.

The 4-player co-op mode is what I'm most looking forward to. The original's solitary deep-sea exploration could feel genuinely uncomfortable at times—particularly during Leviathan encounters, where the helplessness hit hard. Having friends along means sharing both the dread and the thrill of discovering new creatures.

Character models appear more detailed based on the screenshots. The first game's silent survivor worked well for immersion, but I'm hoping for actual dialogue and interaction between players in multiplayer, not just functional cooperation.

108 yuan for Early Access sits in reasonable territory. Given the original's polish and reputation, it's worth picking up—assuming you can tolerate EA-phase bugs and incomplete content. If you need a finished product before committing, waiting makes sense.

The survival system upgrades have me curious. The original's hunger and thirst mechanics sometimes disrupted exploration flow. Hopefully this iteration strikes a better balance between realism and playability, since nobody wants their co-op session derailed by supply runs back to base.
