Assassin's Creed IV Remaster pre-orders surge to Steam's 7th spot, topping charts in 8 countries
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag – Memory Reset just topped PlayStation Store pre-order charts in eight regions—US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong. On Steam, it hit #7 globally. Only Japan didn't hand over the crown, likely squeezed by local titles, but the numbers still speak volumes.

The 2013 original Black Flag remains one of the series' high points—naval combat still holds up today. This full remake promises visual and performance upgrades ahead of its July 9 launch. Ubisoft timed it well, dodging direct clashes with Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 rather than going head-to-head with multiple AAA releases.

Pre-order data shows console players are driving the hype. Ubisoft titles consistently perform on PlayStation, and with Assassin's Creed Shadows building momentum, the fanbase is clearly engaged. Steam's #7 ranking proves PC players aren't sitting out either—plenty want that Caribbean pirate experience again.
If you missed the original or want next-gen visuals, pre-ordering makes sense. But if your backlog is stacked, waiting for post-launch discounts works too. Ubisoft games typically drop in price within six months. The real question: will this remake match the original's legacy, or just be another safe remaster? July 9 will tell.
