GTA 6 Pricing Poll Sparks Debate Over an $80 Launch Price
GTA 6 Pricing Poll Is Already Steering the Conversation
A Tom Henderson poll on X has already put GTA6 pricing under a microscope: more than 10,000 players weighed in on what Rockstar Games’ next blockbuster should cost, and the answers skewed higher than the current AAA norm. Of the four options — $70, $80, $90, and $100 — only 37.7% still backed $70, while 40% chose $80, 13.1% picked $90, and 9.1% went all the way to $100. Preorders open this Thursday, which is when the real number should finally surface.

What stands out is not which price “wins,” but how much the baseline has shifted. $70 used to feel like the standard for a major release; now it reads more like a ceiling players hope publishers will respect. $80 has become the most plausible expectation, and the fact that $90 and even $100 got real support says plenty about how inflated the discussion around GTA6 already is.
That reaction is hardly surprising. GTA6 is the kind of game that distorts every conversation around it before launch, and price only magnifies that effect. Once the number climbs above $80, players will judge everything else more harshly too: launch content, whether the single-player portion feels complete, how much runway the online mode has, and whether the game can actually justify the price through polish and scope.
For now, Take-Two and Rockstar Games have not commented on the game’s exact price. Until Thursday, all of this is still speculation — just a very loud kind. If GTA6 lands at $80, it will not only sell a game; it will push the AAA price ceiling up again. If it stays at $70, the reaction may be less about disappointment than relief.
For players planning to buy at launch, the smarter move is probably to wait for the preorder details and see what each edition actually includes. The real decision is rarely just the sticker price. It is the version breakdown, whether there is a physical release, what the deluxe tier adds, and how the platforms and launch timing line up.
