Spirit Exorcist Reveals 35 Seconds of Gameplay With a Fresh Extraction Twist

According to GamerSky, the Chinese-made folk-horror PVE extraction game Exorcist Tianshi has shown a 35-second gameplay demo and a new batch of screenshots. The basic pitch is straightforward: a multiplayer PVE extraction game built around Chinese folklore, myth, and supernatural tales, with players becoming exorcists, entering places overrun by evil spirits, completing folk-event missions, collecting supplies and treasures, and putting down demons and ghosts.

A Chinese folk-horror setting is a sensible fit for extraction design. Extraction games usually create pressure through route choices, limited inventory, combat risk, and the question of when to leave. Exorcist Tianshi is foregrounding a different vocabulary: spaces invaded by evil spirits, folk-event objectives, magic artifacts, talismans, and usable tools. It is not just swapping firearms for ritual gear. It is trying to reframe "enter, investigate, deal with the haunting, loot, and extract" as a cooperative Chinese exorcism run.

From what has been shown so far, players are exorcists with distinct supernatural abilities. They enter areas taken over by evil spirits with teammates, hunt ghosts and demons, and gather supplies, items, and treasures. The question is not how much spectacle fits into 35 seconds. It is whether artifacts, talismans, and tools will have clear tactical roles. A multiplayer PVE extraction game that leans too hard on inflated enemy stats can quickly turn into repetitive map farming. If each folk event changes the rhythm of exploration, team composition has a reason to matter.

The bigger question is how far its simulation goes. Do evil spirits patrol, track, possess, or interact with the environment? Do locations contain clue trails players can read and follow? Does extraction become riskier as the team carries more treasure? These are the systems that decide whether this is just a Chinese-folklore dungeon game, or a cooperative sandbox capable of producing memorable stories inside each run. The screenshots show a first-person view of exorcism, night-time village exploration, and ritual tools being used against jiangshi-style undead, but for now they only prove the premise has visual appeal. They do not yet prove the loop is fully formed.

Compared with PvP extraction games, Exorcist Tianshi avoids the genre's most punishing element by focusing on multiplayer PVE cooperation. That should lower the barrier to entry, and it also suits the gradual build of folk-horror atmosphere. The tradeoff is familiar: once PVP uncertainty is removed, the AI, event pool, resource management, and extraction decisions have to carry enough variety. For now, the sensible position is to treat it as a Chinese-made genre experiment worth watching, rather than making claims about the finished game. The next useful details would be mission structure, player count, progression systems, and launch platforms.
