Trove's Back-to-School Fishing Event Is Live With 8 Fish to Collect

---

Trove’s event announcement confirms that the mini-event Books and Fish Hooks runs from September 1 through September 8. During that week, players can catch 8 event fish and turn them in for limited-time rewards.

The event’s best idea is not the fishing itself, but the process of turning homework into bait. After completing daily adventure quests, players can put their homework into flowing liquids to obtain Soggy Assignment items. Those assignments then become bait for fishing in different types of liquid. That gives the event a straightforward path from daily quests to fishing rewards.

The event does not burden that loop with a complicated storyline. Instead, its rewards are aimed squarely at players who care about cosmetics. Each completed Soggy Assignment grants one new helmet appearance unlock, and completing 5 assignments lets players collect all 5 new looks. For anyone who checks the fashion rewards before deciding whether an event is worth grinding, that is a more motivating target than simply adding another batch of stat upgrades.

The 8 event fish are more than entries in a collection menu. Unlocking each type grants mastery, while fish that reach trophy size can be added to the player’s collection. Event fish can also be broken down into Educated Canned Fish, which can be donated to Study Buddy in the main city. In return, players receive useful resources and rare rewards. This gives players a clear reason to keep fishing after unlocking each species.

The important limitation is the expiration timer. Event fish and Educated Canned Fish become unusable after the event ends on September 8, so players need to use them before then. The restriction is simple, but it is also easy to overlook and potentially costly. Complete the daily adventure quests, then use the fish and donate the canned fish before the event ends.

Players chasing the special event title must collect all 8 event fish and complete the required Golden Thread tutorial steps. Once those conditions are met, the title can be claimed from the Radiant Merchant.

Overall, Books and Fish Hooks is better suited to players who enjoy short-term collecting and cosmetic rewards than to anyone looking for a large, long-term event. With only one week to claim all 5 helmets, 8 fish, and the special title, waiting until the final day leaves little room for missed quests or unfinished fishing. Trophy-size fish should be added to the collection promptly, especially before the event’s expiration deadline.
