Want to clock in to space with three friends, grab resources in half-hour runs and race the oxygen meter back? The co-op loop lands and the terrain bends to your shovel — just know it forces you online and offers no quiet solo dig, so single-player folks should think twice.

編集部の総評

A co-op spin-off, not the next Astroneer

This isn’t the “big new Astroneer” sequel people might be expecting. It feels more like System Era taking that world and bending it toward short, organized co-op runs. And honestly, that shift works best if you already have a fixed group to play with. If you’ve got three friends who actually show up, STARSEEKER makes a strong case for itself because every expedition is built around a clear goal, a ticking oxygen clock, and that constant little pressure to keep moving. It’s the kind of game that keeps saying, “one more run,” and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

The big hook is that it keeps Astroneer’s sculptable terrain, which changes the whole conversation compared with something like Deep Rock Galactic. Deep Rock gives you structured caves and smart mission design, sure, but STARSEEKER lets you dig the planet itself into a solution. If the route gets blocked, you don’t just reroute around it — you carve your own way through. That’s a legit identity, and it gives the game a physical, improvised feel that co-op fans will appreciate. It’s built for players who like tight, half-hour sessions and don’t mind their teamwork being shaped by oxygen, extraction windows, and whatever mess the terrain turns into.

Early Access money, Game Pass access, and the solo-player problem

Here’s the blunt version: if you’re the kind of Astroneer fan who wanted to keep playing alone, offline, and at your own pace, this probably isn’t your game. It’s always online, there’s no real offline solo mode, and that alone shuts out a lot of the original crowd. The game also doesn’t explain itself very well, so the first few hours can feel rough, and if you hit extraction bugs or a bad connection, you can lose a whole run’s haul. In a game about gathering and keeping progress, that hurts.

So the value call is pretty simple. At $29.99, this is a “buy into the idea” price, not a “finished, all-you-can-eat” price. Since it also launches on Game Pass, trying it there makes way more sense if you’re curious but not committed. Right now it’s Early Access, and you can feel that in the limited planets, the smaller biome pool, and the content ceiling veterans will probably hit after a dozen-odd hours. If you’re willing to live with a half-finished co-op sandbox for the next year and watch it grow, there’s something here. If you want the full, slow-burn solo Astroneer life, I’d skip it.
