Atlus' rumored new JRPG, Persona 6, has, in a sense, gotten its closest thing yet to official confirmation. According to the original report, the previously circulated leaks showing P6 core setting details and visuals can now be treated as almost certainly real, mainly because SEGA has begun a global copyright enforcement campaign. Bloggers say SEGA's legal team has recently been sending legally binding DMCA complaints and copyright warnings across social platforms, forums, and leak accounts, targeting earlier Persona 6 images and character-design asset rips and demanding their removal.
That changes the picture. The reason those alleged Persona 6 materials stayed in limbo for so long was the sheer level of detail in them: they looked both like elaborate fan-made fabrications and like genuine internal assets. Now that the takedowns have escalated from scattered deletions to high-frequency, targeted action on a global scale, the claim that these were fake images loses a lot of ground.

It's also a familiar move from a major JRPG publisher. Companies usually do not spend legal resources this aggressively on material that is purely fabricated, especially when the target is something as specific as leaked visuals and ripped character-design assets. SEGA is not targeting general discussion or speculation, but the spread of specific leaked assets. For players who have followed Atlus projects for years, that kind of move tends to be more useful than any anonymous post, because it affects distribution rather than speculation.

The split in overseas communities was telling. Some people felt the leaked images looked too convincing to ignore, while others thought their polish was exactly why they had to be fake. That is a common stage in leak discourse: the more complete the material looks, the easier it is to dismiss as bait; the longer the publisher stays silent, the more fractured the conversation becomes. With SEGA now personally sweeping the images off major platforms, a key missing piece has fallen into place. This still does not amount to a formal reveal, but it does raise the credibility of the leaked material from rumor territory to highly probable pre-release information.

For regular players, the practical advice at this stage is not to chase half-broken reposts or treat every surviving image as a final version of the game. Once legal cleanup begins, whatever remains online is often cropped, recompressed, or otherwise altered, which only increases the noise. The more meaningful thing to watch is whether SEGA and Atlus follow this up with an actual teaser cycle. If an official marketing window opens soon after, then this round of takedowns will look very much like preparation for Persona 6's proper reveal.
