Death Disco hits Early Access at 69 yuan — how much playtime does it offer?
Dead As Disco hits Early Access on Steam and Epic on May 5, 2026, priced at ¥86 (roughly $12 USD), dropping to ¥69 for the first two weeks. Brain Jar Games—founded in 2024 by veterans from BioWare, Super Evil Megacorp, and Trion Worlds—bills it as a rhythm brawler, not a traditional rhythm game.

The Early Access build includes the first campaign chapter, 4 boss fights, and over 30 tracks. That's roughly a weekend's worth of content. The custom music import feature matters more than the base setlist—it extends playtime without waiting for DLC drops.

Brain Jar describes this as "playable action cinema," closer to John Wick than Beat Saber. The pitch sounds fresh, but Early Access means you're getting a fraction of the final product. You'll face four idol bosses: Hemlock, Arora, Dex, and The Prophet. How many times you replay them depends on your tolerance for repetition.

¥69 sits in reasonable territory for rhythm games. Crypt of the NecroDancer launched around this price point, but that was a complete release. Early Access carries the risk of slow updates—if development drags, you've paid for an incomplete experience.

If you need something new this weekend, ¥69 is an acceptable gamble. If you want full content and polish, wait for the 1.0 launch discount. Early Access means you're funding development, not buying a finished game—factor that into the purchase decision.
