“Paint your blank white body into a wall, hold your breath, and watch the seeker stroll right past — that single rush is why a six-dollar, two-person indie is suddenly everywhere.”
Nasz werdykt
The $6 trick that makes Prop Hunt feel a little old

Here’s the big thing with MECCHA CHAMELEON: it takes hide-and-seek, which we’ve all seen a million times in Prop Hunt-style games, and gives it one really smart twist. You’re not just clicking a chair, becoming that chair, and hoping nobody notices. You’re a blank white little freak, and you have to paint yourself to match the stage.
That sounds simple, but it changes everything. Your disguise isn’t limited by a list of props the game gives you. It’s limited by your eye, your patience, your brushwork, and how well you understand what the seeker is actually looking for. You’re grabbing colors, copying patterns, posing your body, and praying your weird little art project passes as part of the wall.
When it works, and somebody walks right past you, it’s electric. That feeling is the whole game.
And honestly, that’s why this thing blew up. MECCHA CHAMELEON feels like one of 2026’s big indie ambushes: tiny team energy, rough edges everywhere, but one idea so funny and so watchable that it punches way above its weight. The comparison people are going to make is Among Us, and I get it. Not because they play the same, but because both games turn simple social pressure into comedy. You’re lying with your body instead of your voice.
Steam’s sitting at 83% Very Positive across 33,903 reviews, and that tracks. This is not polished in the expensive way. It’s polished in the “my friends are screaming in Discord and I can’t breathe” way. For six dollars, that’s a very easy sell.
Bring friends, bring patience, and don’t expect a slick machine

I’d recommend MECCHA CHAMELEON hard, but only to the right person. If you’ve got a group of friends who can jump in, mess around, accuse each other, and laugh when somebody’s awful paint job somehow fools the room, yeah, this is absolutely your kind of game. It’s built for multiplayer, for party chaos, for social reads, and for those ridiculous moments where skill and panic collide.
It’s also more approachable than it looks. Your first camouflage attempt can be garbage and still be funny. But the better players? They’re going to find real depth here. Matching color is one thing. Matching shape, lighting, composition, and seeker expectations is another. That’s where MECCHA CHAMELEON has legs. It’s silly on the surface, but the skill ceiling is higher than a basic gag game.
The catch is, the online side is the biggest problem. Friend invites can fail to arrive. “Join Friend” can just quietly not work. And for a game that lives or dies on getting people into a lobby fast, that’s a brutal weakness. The fun is there. The concept is there. The viral spark is absolutely there. But if the developer wants this to become a real long-term genre player instead of a two-week internet fever dream, the lobby and invite experience has to get cleaned up.
So yeah, 7.5 out of 10 feels right to me. Not because the idea is a 7.5. The idea is better than that. The package around it is what drags it down.
PC only for now, and solo players should probably wait

Right now, MECCHA CHAMELEON is a PC game on Steam, and that’s the version you’re looking at. It launched on June 10, 2026, from lemorion_1224, and the whole thing has that early viral indie feel: plain UI, basic presentation, thin onboarding, but a hook that people immediately understand the second they see it in motion.
If you mostly play alone, I would not rush. There’s almost no single-player reason to be here. This is not a game you buy for a campaign, progression, fancy cutscenes, or a deep offline mode. Without friends, without public matches behaving, and without the social energy around it, MECCHA CHAMELEON loses most of its oxygen.
For Chinese-speaking players specifically, the big asks are pretty obvious: stronger online stability and better localization. The interface is mainly English and Japanese right now, and while the rules are simple enough to understand, party games live on frictionless access. If your friends are already hesitating because of language, connection issues, or invite problems, that cheap six-dollar buy-in suddenly becomes a harder group sell.
So my advice is simple. If you’ve got a regular crew and you’re okay with some jank, buy it and treat it like a party night experiment. You’ll probably get your money’s worth fast. If you’re strict about matchmaking, clean friend systems, polished presentation, or solo content, wait and see what updates bring. MECCHA CHAMELEON has the kind of core idea most multiplayer games would kill for. Now it needs the support structure to match the chaos.

UWAGA! Ja - prewencyjnie - usuwam też grę z kompa i daję łapkę w dół, chociaż samą grę kocham szczerą miłością. Niemniej, ryzyko jest zbyt duże.Pokaż więcejPokaż mniej

The game is overrated... The idea of painting is great. However, when I played this game with a friend and random people, no one really used it. The game feels like just a regular Gmod hide and seek. That's why the gameplay is mid, in my opinion. There is a cool mechanic, but it's just easier to hide without it. Additionally, it doesn't work as well as it did in the trailer. The eyedropper tool doesn't work most of the time, it always gives you the color black. You can have fun playing the game, but it's not worth waiting 6 minutes every single time just for the host to kick you or for the game to crash. You can also easily fall out of the map, or reach places where hunters can't kill you. I can't recommend it in its current state, it's so glitchy right now. It's better to buy something else... The game is pretty fun, and I enjoy it when I get to play. But as of right now, I can't recommend it until some issues get fixed. Otherwise you might just get exhausted by simply trying to find a server before you even get to play. 1. When you first launch the game, you will be greeted by an agreement written in Japanese before you can even choose the language. I have heard from some players this doesn't happen if your PC's language is set to one of the supported languages. The language I use on my PC is not supported, so I don't really know. Either way, it would be preferable to be able to pick the language first. If I'm agreeing to something, I'd like to know what it is that I'm agreeing to. 2. Sometimes the host may decide on a map from a mod - which is fine. The problem is, if you don't want to download it / can't download it due to errors / other people won't download it so the game doesn't start - the overlay asking you to download the mod prevents you from leaving the server. If I don't want to play with a mod, and join a server that uses them, the only way to leave that server is to completely close the game. 3. When all the hunters leave the game before the round is over, you are forced to sit there until the timer runs out. From what I've noticed, you are then kicked to the menu. It would make more sense for the round to immediately end upon all the hunters leaving, and then start another round, without kicking all the players. 4. If you join the lobby while the game is already in progress, you typically get to spectate the game (this doesn't always work). However, I've noticed that when I join as a spectator, I get kicked when the round is over instead of being added as a participant to the next round. You could basically spend 5 minutes watching other people play, get kicked before you get to play, join another server that has a game in progress, spectate the game for 5 minutes and get kicked again. 5. The UI feels a bit cluttered and may be difficult to navigate. The fun is there, it's just harder to enjoy at the moment due to the errors.Pokaż więcejPokaż mniej

Myślałem, że będzie fajniejsza ale mam wrażenie jakby to była jakaś wersja beta. Interface archaiczny, wyszukiwarka serwerów to jakaś kpina. Nie da się tego jakoś normalnie przefiltrować. Ni z tego ni z owego wywala z serwera w różnych momentach. Nie da się po swojemu skonfigurować klawiszy. Sterowanie toporne.Nie mam pojęcia czym obsługują grę pro playerzy, bo zazwyczaj jest zbyt mało czasu aby sensownie się zamaskować.Pokaż więcejPokaż mniej
