NVIDIA Reviving the RTX 3060 with New Production Run

NVIDIA may restart production of the RTX 3060, the most successful 60-series card in its history, with a potential 2026 return to market. The move comes as memory prices climb and supply chains tighten.

The RTX 3060 uses Samsung's 8nm process, which costs significantly less than current 5nm-3nm nodes. Performance-wise, it trails the RTX 4060 by roughly 15% and sits alongside Intel's A770 and AMD's RX 6600 XT. At 1080p, it handles mainstream AAA titles without issue.

Jensen Huang previously dismissed the idea of reverting to older processes. "Theoretically possible, but economically it makes no sense," he said, emphasizing that each generation's progress extends beyond process nodes to include packaging, stacking technologies, and overall system architecture innovation. Market conditions have shifted since then, and NVIDIA's stance appears to be softening.

For gamers, the 12GB version still delivers. If priced right, it's a solid pick for budget-conscious players who don't need the latest 4060 or 5060. Restarting production would expand market options and shows NVIDIA adapting to supply chain realities rather than sticking to principle.
