Has Something Gone Wrong with the *Transformers* Statue? P1S Caught Up in a 1.6 Million Payment Dispute
People involved in high-end collectibles are usually no strangers to the name Prime 1 Studio. Known for its large scale and high precision, the brand has long covered popular IPs such as Transformers, the DC Universe, and The Witcher, and has maintained strong recognition in the statue-collecting community. But this time, the discussion surrounding P1S is no longer about paintwork, accuracy, or preorder schedules—it is about a highly alarming payment dispute.

According to information disclosed by the head of a domestic partner manufacturer in the Hpoi figure wiki community, P1S is accused of taking goods worth about 1.6 million yuan, while the agreed payment has yet to arrive. The manufacturer involved said the two sides had cooperated for many years and had also worked together on the production of several popular statues. Because P1S had long delayed deposit payments and communication costs had become too high, the two sides decided to conduct a settlement.
The key date was February 5, 2026. The two parties signed a Recovery Agreement, stipulating that P1S would pay USD 230,000 to take back the previously produced finished and semi-finished goods. The next day, February 6, P1S arranged vehicles to pick up the goods, loading a total of 9 truckloads of products. The manufacturer stated that the other party had promised to “pay after loading,” and that same night also provided a bank slip, saying that because banks in Hong Kong were closed over the weekend, the funds would not arrive until February 9.

The problem lies here: the goods were released, but the money never arrived. With the Spring Festival approaching and hundreds of factory employees waiting to be paid, the manufacturer could only raise funds on its own to cover payroll in advance. After repeatedly demanding payment to no avail, it ultimately chose to report the case to the police. What makes matters more troublesome is that this was a cross-border transaction, and the bank slip provided by the other party lacked a key clearing code, making it difficult for outsiders to verify whether the funds had actually been remitted. The article also mentioned that P1S’s agency company in Hong Kong, China, was alleged to have no actual office address, further undermining the basis for trust in this incident.

From an industry perspective, the most alarming aspect of this matter is not just the 1.6 million yuan itself, but the long-standing “trust first, settle later” model in the high-end statue supply chain. Once brand owners, agents, and factories are separated by multiple layers of corporate structure, responsibility can easily become fragmented. The manufacturer currently states that it has, in accordance with the law, exercised a lien over some of the molds and accessories still left in the factory, and plans to publicly auction the molds and process materials from the past 5 years in order to minimize losses as much as possible.
For players and collectible buyers, my advice is straightforward: in the short term, pay attention to the follow-up police handling, whether the payment documents are further verified, and whether P1S issues a complete official response. High-end statues are already a category heavily dependent on preorders, long production cycles, and after-sales service. Once settlement problems arise upstream, those ultimately bearing the pressure are often not just the contract manufacturers, but also consumers waiting for additional payments, shipments, or after-sales support.

Will this controversy truly hurt the P1S brand? The answer may depend on one thing: whether it can clearly explain the payment chain, the responsible parties, and the follow-up handling as soon as possible. In the collectibles market, the most valuable thing has never been resin or paintwork, but trust. Once that trust cracks, even the strongest IP halo may not be enough to contain community sentiment.
