“An extraction shooter that writes strangers into stories through proximity chat, dismantling Tarkov's high barrier into a doorway for 14 million”
評測總結
Its 2025 coordinates: a niche genre dragged into the mainstream

Place ARC Raiders back into the landscape of 2025 and its position looks unusual. The extraction shooter has long been a critical darling that struggled to sell — hardcore, high-barrier, its loss-of-loot sting having driven off countless players, with several of its peers ending up shuttered for good. What this one pulled off was turning that niche into a mainstream phenomenon: an all-platform concurrent peak brushing 960,000, sales past fourteen million, roughly six million weekly active players. Almost single-handedly, it proved the genre need not stay the private reserve of a hardcore few.
The awards eventually gave it its due, if by a crooked road. It landed a Best Multiplayer nomination at a major year-end ceremony yet missed the final Game of the Year shortlist — and given its reputation and scale at the time, that snub became one of the most-discussed talking points of the whole season, with some streamers openly blaming the AI-voice row for the cold shoulder.
At the Nordic Game Awards 2026, though, it swept three trophies including Game of the Year, settling the debt. Whatever you make of the controversy, the industry's own verdict was loud and ultimately unambiguous: this is one of the defining releases of its year, and the body of work behind it is the kind small studios are rarely allowed to dream about.
Who should buy it, who should walk, and where the moat really is

Down to the practical question: should you play it. If you have always been curious about the extraction genre but feared being ground down by the punishing authenticity of Escape from Tarkov, ARC Raiders is almost tailor-made as your entry point — it keeps every bit of extraction tension while a far lower barrier and a flood of human emergence let you actually enjoy that tension instead of being tortured by it. Flip the profile, and if you only want a pure mob-farming, stat-grinding, never-lose-the-backpack single-player experience, the PvP risk and loss-of-loot baked into its bones will rub you raw, and you are better off elsewhere.
Which brings us to the root question: what about it cannot be copied? Not the visuals, not some stat — it is the way proximity chat grows an unrepeatable human story out of every encounter. Another studio can lift its extraction framework, lift its progression line, even lift its wasteland art, but they cannot lift the moment you danced with a stranger in a dark factory at midnight, or got betrayed at the final second. That is something two real people collide into on the spot, and it is the deepest, hardest-to-breach moat the game owns. Its audio controversy will keep getting argued, its retention will keep decaying with time, its concurrent numbers will rise and fall with each content drop, but as long as the system that turns strangers into stories survives, ARC Raiders will always hold one thing nobody can take. That, more than the sales figures or the trophies, is the reason it belongs in any honest conversation about the defining games of its generation — and the reason I keep going back up to the surface, knowing exactly what it will cost me.
