評測總結

## Overall

Commercial Standing and Critical Reception

Planet Zoo arrived at the top of the industry's 2019 sim-builder slate and has stayed there. The critical scoreboard is consistently mid-eighties to upper-eighties: IGN at 8.5, PC Gamer at 75, OpenCritic and Metacritic both at 80, an OpenCritic "Mighty" recommendation. Steam's user verdict is the more durable signal — a Very Positive rating sustained for years, around eighty-nine percent positive across more than seventy-seven thousand reviews. The Chinese-language press tracks the same arc: 3DM at 8.5, Gcores at 8.5, Gamersky's player verdict at 8.5. Convergence at that level across English and Chinese-speaking review ecosystems is uncommon and is the strongest single piece of evidence that the game does what it claims to do.

Commercial performance backs the critical numbers. Frontier publicly reported the title past a million units within its first six months, and conservative estimates put cumulative sales (base game plus the twenty-plus pack stack) past six million units to date. Steam concurrent peak hit roughly forty thousand around launch weekend; even now, years later, daily concurrents sit in the two-to-five-thousand range, the kind of long-tail floor that defines a category staple. Workshop uploads have crossed the half-million-asset mark and span English, German, Japanese, Korean and Chinese-speaking creator communities. The pack release cadence has been steady enough that the title now reads as a "live service-like product" rather than a single ship-and-walk-away release, which is the underlying reason the audience hasn't drifted.

Who Should Buy, Who Should Walk, Which Version to Get

The buyer's profile is clean. If you enjoy animals, if you have any appetite for management sims, if you're already a Frontier follower, or if you want a deep build toolset to express creative ideas in, Planet Zoo is the genre ceiling for animal park sims and the safest purchase in the category. The pitch — two hundred species plus a thousand-piece modular building kit plus four play modes plus a half-million-asset Workshop, six years of live operation behind it — is the kind of stack you don't get more than once per genre per decade. The non-buyers are equally clean to identify: anyone who finds sim pacing tedious, anyone who wants quick, twitchy gameplay, anyone unwilling to invest the first ten hours learning the habitat, research, Franchise and Conservation Credit systems. Those systems are real entry friction and they will stay friction; the game is not interested in pretending otherwise. If you want immediate-payoff fun, an action game is the right purchase. If you want to spend a hundred hours running a serious zoo, this is the right purchase.

On version choice, the practical guidance is to start with the Steam base game and add packs based on personal interest. Steam discounts the base game to roughly $6 on aggressive sales (seventy percent or more is common), which is among the best price-to-content ratios available in the category. The complete DLC stack adds up to around $150 at rack price, and you do not need all of it. Pick packs by species and biome — Aquatic if you want water habitats, Tropical for rainforest builds, Africa for savanna projects — and acquire the rest only if you become invested. Localisation should not factor into the decision for Chinese-speaking buyers: full official Simplified and Traditional Chinese coverage is in place across menus, the encyclopaedia, all tutorial subtitles and the Workshop browser.

Historical Standing and What Comes Next

Set aside the commercial figures and the score sheets for a moment, and Planet Zoo's lasting contribution is straightforward — it is the modern industry ceiling for animal park simulation. It took the Zoo Tycoon lineage from the early 2000s and rebuilt it at a contemporary scale: two hundred photoreal species, a thousand-piece modular toolset, a half-million Workshop creations, a six-year cadence of paid packs and free updates. No competing animal park sim has challenged that position in the years since launch. Frontier's broader "Planet" family — Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, the announced Planet Zoo 2 — remains one of the most clearly identifiable studio brands in the sim-builder category.

The forward outlook is set. Frontier publicly announced Planet Zoo 2 development in 2025, with a commitment to expand aquatic life (a richer marine ecosystem) and to ship a proper aviary system — the two features the original community has asked for most consistently for the longest time. There is no firm release date, but the announcement itself gives Planet Zoo 1's player base a clear runway. The Chinese sim-builder community's high-end verdict closes the loop on the rating: "the 2019 ceiling for the genre — animal modelling this detailed, construction this free, Workshop creativity this rich, makes a hundred-hour investment fully worth it." The composite 8.2 reflects the design completeness (two hundred species, a thousand modules, four modes, the Workshop), the genre-leading content depth (9.0 is the highest single axis), and the honest weaknesses (the 5.0 Career story, the high full-collection DLC price, the steeper newcomer onramp). It is not the flashiest visual showcase of 2019. It is the most complete simulation-builder of its kind, and the cornerstone of Frontier's "Planet" line.
